1.Cookie Ingredients in a Jar

Cookie Mixture in a Jar

Simply layer up all the dry ingredients for Dad’s favourite cookies in a jar and tie a loving message round the lid.

Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Chip Cookies

These are our favourites at The Studio!

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups of semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter chips
  1. Preheat the oven to 375F/190C
  2. Beat the softened butter, eggs and vanilla extract in a large bowl
  3. Add cookie mix and mix well
  4. Drop rounded tablespoons of the cookie dough onto ungreased basking sheets
  5. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown
  6. Allow to cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring onto wire racks to cool completely

Makes about 24 cookies

2. Create an Artwork from Your Family’s Hands

Family Hands Mounted in Frame

  • Using The Edinburgh Castings Studio’s  Family Hand Casting Kit, cast up to 4 of your family’s hands in a flat position like those shown above.
  • Select a deep frame that is the right size to display all the hands in. It will need to have a strong wooden backing board to stick the plaster hands to.
  • Then follow these easy steps to mount the hands in the frame:

How to Mount Hands in Frame

  1. While the plaster is still fresh, use coarse sandpaper on a sanding block or an electric sander
  2. Sand the back of each hand from the base of the knuckles to the wrist
  3. Keep sanding until the hand lies flat
  4. Apply a strong liquid nails or epoxy glue to the back of one hand at a time
  5. Glue each hand in place on the backing board of the frame
  6. Hey presto! A unique family work of art for Dad!

3. Handy Card Idea

  1. Draw 2 handprints – a right and left- on coloured card and cut out
  2. Write on the first hand “Dad, I love you…” Add a ❤️
  3. Cut out a strip of paper about 40cm long and 6cm wide and write “this much” on one side. Add another ❤️
  4. Fold the strip into accordion pleats
  5. Glue one end of the strip to one hand and the other end to the second hand. Fold up the strip and pop the handy card in an envelope

4. Family Tree Picture or Card

We Love you Dad Father's Day Card  

  1. Draw the brown branches of a tree on a piece of white card or paper.
  2. Get the kids to make green paint handprints over the branches to form the leaves
  3. Add their names next to their prints
  4. Write a message on to Dad and the year
  5. Pop in a frame or turn into a card for Dad to open on the day

5. Family Photos Stencil Frame

We love Daddy Photo Frame

   

  1. Print off our handy We ❤️ Daddy stencil template (available here)
  2. Carefully cut out the letters using a craft knife. A job for Mum!
  3. Select your favourite family photos to mount in the back of an A4 picture frame
  4. Position the photos carefully so they show through the stencil
  5. Stick them in position using spray mount
  6. Stick the stencil over the top of the photos and mount in the frame
